Radiology

.

The hospital has a powerful 300 ma 125 KV radiograph machine that will help to stop motion of our uncooperative patients. It sometimes will help us to not have to use anesthesia, but often the use of anesthesia    is a necessary part of veterinary radiology.

Radiographs are an essential adjunct to the making of many diagnoses in pets. This includes broken bones, to the eating of foreign bodies which untreated can cause death.

On October 25, 2006 we will commence the use of Direct Digital Radiography. We will be the only hospital in our area with this type of facility. Even Venice Hospital does not have this type equipment. With this equipment we can take a radiograph of your pet, and 4 seconds later see the image on a computer screen with out the use of film or chemicals. We are not only protecting the environment, but giving your pet state of the art care and you the ability to have a radiograph taken of your pet and within seconds have an interpretation. Also you will be able to view your pets radiographs at a remote website and if you have a veterinarian up north, he can also view them. And we can get expert consultation from anywhere in the world if we wish.  All of us at the Ark are very excited about this new technology.
