Our Adoption Program

Our kittens for adoption receive a complete physical examination, are tested for worms and dewormed if necessary, and they are treated for fleas with Revolution, and have been tested for feline leukemia, and feline infectious anemia, as well as observed for proper psychological temperament for being a good pet.

All of this work is done by Ark Animal Hospital as a free public service, and there is no adoption fee. We just require that the new owner get their first set of vaccinations from us. Our program is so successful, that we adopt out more kittens than most humane societies. Our pole sign in front of our hospital almost always says, KITTENS FOR ADOPTION. If you see that sign then come in and take a look at some of the cutest kittens on the planet. From time to time we have been able to match up a dog whose owner must give it up, with a new family. And we do try our best to find homes for older cats. We also cooperate with the shelters that also try to find homes for homeless pets.

Finding a puppy is a little more difficult than finding a kitten. And I think it is important to know that raising a puppy is far more demanding than raising a kitten. I also suggest looking locally where you can visit the puppy and see the puppy’s parents in their home surroundings. Looking in the local classifieds is a good start. Now a days, the internet is also a good resource, but I still think it is important for you to see and visit the puppy before you get him.
